ITINERARY

Travelling the Zambian trails means immersing yourself in pristine, unspoilt and diverse wilderness, where you can experience thrilling and authentic safaris. A safari off the beaten track, far from mass tourism.

I will be there to welcome you at Lusaka Airport before we head to our hotel for the night's bed & breakfast. The next morning, a flight from Lusaka to Mfuwe will be waiting for us after breakfast. We arrive in Mfuwe after a 1-hour flight, with around 40 km to go to our first lodge.

Your safari begins in South Luangwa, also known as Leopard Valley. This region offers exceptional opportunities for spotting this elusive cat by day and night. The great Rift Valley ends in the Luangwa Valley, one of Africa's richest wildernesses. This park is renowned for its large herds of buffalo and elephant, its troops of lions, not forgetting the prolific populations of hippos and crocodiles. Birdwatchers will also be delighted, with over 400 species of bird recorded, including the magnificent carmine bee-eaters between August and October. South Luangwa is without doubt one of my favourite African parks.

The first 4 nights of the trip start in an unfenced camp on the banks of the Luangwa River, close to an elephant crossing point. You will stay in comfortable safari tents or tree houses, subject to availability.

Twice a day, we will explore the park on board a custom-built 4×4 for optimum observation of its incredibly diverse wildlife.

After 4 nights in our first camp we leave South Luangwa for Mfuwe Airport where we fly to Jeki and the Lower Zambezi National Park. The next 4 nights are spent in a 5-tent camp in the heart of this superb park. Elephants, leopards and wild dogs are often spotted here, and it's not uncommon to see animals from your tent or right in the middle of the camp: a truly authentic and wild experience. Here we will have the opportunity to go on safari in a private open 4x4 vehicle, by boat on the Zambezi or by canoe on the river's natural channels: an unforgettable experience.

The Lower Zambezi allows you to end your stay at the rhythm of the water while recharging your batteries in an idyllic environment full of nature.
