In northern Tanzania, a few hours from Arusha, lies Tarangire National Park, a territory where the seasons dictate the rhythm of life.
Here, centuries-old baobabs stand alongside rolling plains, winding rivers, and one of the highest concentrations of elephants in East Africa. Tarangire is this unique blend of gentle, lush landscapes, tall grasses, massive silhouettes, and warm light that envelops everything.
During the dry season, wildlife converges on the Tarangire River, creating scenes of rare intensity. In the green season, the park transforms: the baobabs turn green, birds flock to the area, and the light becomes softer.
Less frequented than the Serengeti or the Ngorongoro, Tarangire offers a calmer, more intimate atmosphere, where one fully feels the quiet strength of the Tanzanian savannah.
Where giants walk beneath the baobabs
With its immense herds of elephants, its vital river, and its monumental baobabs, Tarangire offers superb safaris all year round. The energy varies with the months, but the magic remains.
Dry season
from June to October
It is the great natural theatre.
When water sources dry up elsewhere, the river becomes the park's magnet. Herds arrive by the hundreds: elephants, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo… and behind them, inevitably, predators.
The vegetation opens up, the trails are easy, the scenes unfold with an almost unreal intensity.
Golden dust, immense skies, silhouettes on the horizon: a treat for observation and for photography.
Tarangire then plays in the big leagues. Dense, spectacular, unforgettable.
Green Season
from November to May
The rain changes the score.
The plains are turning green again, the baobabs are adorned with leaves, the birds are flocking in and the park is breathing differently.
The animals are more dispersed, encounters require a bit more searching, but the landscapes become sublime. Soft light, dramatic skies, peaceful atmospheres: a more intimate, almost secret Tarangire.
Fewer vehicles, more space, and that rare feeling of having the savannah to yourself.
